Marjorie Cantor Endowed Professorship in Aging
The Syracuse University School of Social Work, Falk College of
Sport and Human Dynamics and Maxwell School for Citizenship and
Public Affairs are inviting nominations and applications for the
Marjorie Cantor Endowed Professorship in Aging. The
Endowed Professor, who will have a joint appointment in the two programs, is expected to be a leading expert in aging-related issues with
an outstanding record of scholarship demonstrated through
publications, funded research, and leadership at the university,
national, and international levels. This new professorship is part
of a broader commitment by Syracuse University to expand our
research and teaching in aging as reflected in the creation of the
interdisciplinary Aging Studies Institute.
The Endowed Professor will be expected to work collaboratively with other academic units and departments across the University, including the Aging Studies Institute. In particular we encourage applications by candidates whose substantive interests fit within the following thematic areas of the Aging Studies Institute: age-based public policy and well-being; population aging; health and functioning; and family dynamics, care work, and intergenerational support (for additional information go to asi.syr.edu).
We seek an accomplished scholar who holds a doctoral degree in an aging-related discipline and has a strong, ongoing research agenda in one or more of the previously listed areas. Successful candidates must currently be at the rank of tenured advanced Associate Professor or full Professor. Appointment to the Professor rank will be based on University standards for Promotions and Tenure. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
