NEW Elder Law Studies E-journal, launched by SU College of Law Professor Nina Kohn
Are you writing about aging and public policy? Consider sharing your work-in-progress or published article through the new Elder Law Studies E-Journal.
Launched in January 2009 by Syracuse University College of Law Professor and Gerontology Center faculty affiliate Nina Kohn, the Elder Law Studies E-Journal provides an online forum for sharing current scholarship on elder law.
The Elder Law Studies E-Journal is part of the Social Science Resources Network (SSRN), which is increasingly becoming an important forum for distributing current scholarship in the United States. Through its Legal Scholarship Network (LSN), SSRN distributes a wide variety of legal subject-matter specific e-journals, including the Elder Law Studies E-Journal.
The success of the Elder Law Studies E-journal depends on those writing in the field aging and law. The e-journal can only distribute articles that authors have taken the initiative to upload to the SSRN database. Both published works and works-in-progress can be uploaded. This is a simple process and a great way to make one’s work more broadly available. Although many authors wait to share their work until after it has been published, sharing a work-in-progress through the e-journal is encouraged as it helps promote a dynamic and interactive scholarly community.
While only recently published articles or works-in-progress will be included in the e-journal, authors are encouraged to upload older articles to the SSRN database as well. All articles shared with SSRN become part of SSRN's e-library, a collection of searchable articles. Indeed, a key benefit of the new Elder Law Studies SSRN is that it creates a new e-library collection which the public can search to find elder law related articles.
Additional information about the Elder Law Studies E-journal can be found online at http://www.ssrn.com/update/lsn/lsnann/annA001.html. Questions can be directed to Nina Kohn at nakohn@law.syr.edu or 315-443-6565.
